Working on a group of small paintings of animals for an upcoming little show/sale in my neck of the woods. Putting ghostly things on hold just for a bit. 

"Scout Hall" is a very cool little location here in Bremerton. A couple of friends with a wonderful eye for design and all things lovely have converted a vintage Scout meeting hall into a wonderful venue for shows, dinners and just hanging out with good people. 

I'll have a total of 8 animal watercolors available. 

And of course, I'm always sketching, regardless of what I'm painting. Here's the latest from the sketchbook.

Ghostly entrails searching...

Been reading this little gem lately. 

A detailed account of various supernatural and occult stories from all over the world. 

An interesting fact: " It was considered by the Romans to be a curse for a man to die the last of his line. Consequently, so that the dead would not be too lonely, they were buried by the roadside so that their spirits could be cheered by the greetings of those who passed.

Despite the tendency of spirits to haunt the locale of their burial places, they were generally believed by the Romans to inhabit a specific underworld beneath the earth."

The sketch below is based on a demon who becomes separated from its body at night to take pray on human victims. The head must return to the body by daybreak or the demon will be destroyed.

New paintings, sketches ... busy busy busy.

I'm afraid I have yet to make good on my resolution to be more web connected. Regardless of my lack of updates, I have been busy the past couple of months working on new paintings and sketches. There is a fair amount  of sketches in fact, so I will be posting more of those soon. 

It looks as if I may be on the Hi-Fructose blog in the future as well!  In the meantime, here is a little snippet of what I've been up to.

The first is a donation piece for my friend Tina.  She will be undergoing chemo and an operation for cancer. Unfortunately, this means she'll be out of work for some time. The auction will raise money to help her pay the bills and various medical expenses until she returns to her job.

I believe the event is happening Saturday, April 9th at The Palm Room in Ballard.

I'll post the full details when I have them.

Kickshaw Cave is UP!!!!

Finally! After much reading and drawing and typing I have put up 5 "Kickshaw Cards" on Etsy! All are original drawings on tea-stained paper in the traditional ACEO size, (2.5" x 3.5".)  I have many more to put in the shop, but am testing the waters, as this is a very new and exciting endeavor for me.

Hopefully, if all goes well, I will be putting more cards and eventually paintings up on the site. 

Just one more step closer to working as an artist instead of working and being an artist.

When mountains smoke...

It seems that at the moment all I'm doing is sketching and very little painting. It always feels a little weird when this happens... as if I'm neglecting something. However, I'm very happy with where these sketches are leading. Paintings to follow soon.
