When the weight of the world seems to be too much, I draw a tiny tiger.

The Night Procession
The Night Procession
acrylic on matryoshka
Not the best photos, but it should give a clue as to what I've been up to for the past few weeks. I realized over this process that I really enjoy painting in acrylic. I still love watercolor, so we'll see what happens. I had been working on a series of large drawings before I had to set them aside to work on these.
Looking forward to getting back to them.
The opening for this show is this Thursday, December 8th at Ghost Gallery in Seattle.
Should be interesting to see the turn-out and the other artists' matryoshka.

Matryoshka
It's been at least a couple of years since I've worked in acrylic so this project has become an exploration of the medium for me.
So far, so good.
Plugging away for a group show in Seattle this December at Ghost Gallery. Curated by the talented Michael Alm.

Nectar...
# 43 in the little black book of doom.
The end of this book is approaching. It's been a couple of years ( I think, ) if not more since I started this sketchbook. It goes everywhere with me. It's filthy and falling apart. Worn and abused, it's always by my side, always waiting for something new.
Yesterday I counted the number of pages I have yet to fill.
35. That's with front and back of each page.
Looking forward to the last leaf... and hesitant to finish it at the same time.

Stuntkid and Friends Show
Stuntkid and Friends opened this past saturday at ArtGallery in Norfolk, VA. I'm a bit disapointed that I couldn't make it out, but from the photos I've seen, it looks like quite a few people did. The show runs until August 27th. I highly suggest checking it out if you're in the area.

Smoking little stumps
Left the big sketchbook at the shop this week, so I've reverted back to filling the pages of my little one.
Friends of Stuntkid
Sent off my pieces last week to Norfolk for an upcoming show at ArtGallery. It looks like a blurb is up on HamptonRoads about the show as well.

Been feeling a bit lazy in the brain lately - This usually occurs after I finish a piece. Re-adjusting and arranging ideas. Time to get back to work.

Sperm Whale.
Just finished a commission of a sperm whale for a friend.
Sperm Whale for Grace.
Watercolor
Also did another grey drawing recently.
Graphite and colored pencil
I found a wonderful tumbler focused on scientific illustration, which I've always been fascinated by.

Waiting for the Redwoods...
I've never seen them and now feel even more compelled to gaze upon them with my own two eyes.
"Redwood."
Graphite and colored pencil.
Recently, I also went to a NASA lecture at a local bar here in B-town. I have never really payed too much attention to science in space and more to things taking place here. But really, they go hand in hand.
The true awesomeness of space... the grand scale... it puts a great deal into perspective for me.
I enjoy feeling so small. Nature has a way of doing that.

More Little Animals for Scout Hall!
If you are in Kitsap, or just want to get out of dodge for the day, I suggest you stop by and check it out. There will be some lovely things, including cool bags and pennants by Derek Nobbs!
Hope to see you there!
